Jose A Vallejo

Vita

Currently I am a Researcher Professor at the Science Faculty, a unit of the Universidad Autónoma de San Luis Potosí. Previously, I was a Lecturer Professor and Researcher at the Department of Applied Mathematics of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (Spain).

I studied Theoretical Physics and Mathematics, both at the Universitat de València (Spain), where I earned a Ph. D. in Geometry and Topology in May, 2003. The Research section contains a list of published works and preprints. A curriculum vitae can be found here.

My areas of research are Differential Geometry and Mathematical Physics, mainly the theory and applications of supermanifold theory (including calculus of variations, harmonic superfunctions, super-Poisson geometry...), and the geometric-algebraic techniques for studying physical systems (Lie algebroids, symplectic and Poisson manifolds, and the like). Recently, I have become interested in other topics such as optimization in quantum systems and p-adic analysis applied to quantum field theory and complex systems.

Also, I am involved in the use of free software in mathematical research and teaching. Particularly, I strongly recommend Maxima and Geogebra. Some of my recent work in mathematical software is devoted to KeTCindy, a set of macros in the CindyScript language for generating LaTeX code, developed by Setsuo Takato.

My sister Carolina Vallejo is also a mathematician. She currently holds a Severo Ochoa postdoc position at the ICMAT (National Institute of Mathematical Sciences) in Spain, and was one of the recipients of the BBVA-RSME funded Vicent Caselles prize in 2018.

Here is an interview, and here you can see her in action at the MSRI (Berkeley, USA), talking about the McKay conjecture.

My father, José Antonio Vallejo Rodríguez, won the National Junior Chess Championship of Spain several years in a row. In 1957, he also won the European Junior Chess Championship, in Dublin (Ireland). Some newspaper announcements are here and here. Although I like playing chess, I am a less than mediocre player. Here is my father (ca. 1955) playing black:
